Before your session

When should I book my newborn session?

Book during your pregnancy ideally by your second trimester. I’ll take your estimated due date and hold a tentative booking. Once your baby arrives, contact me within the first few days and we’ll lock in the session date. The best window for photographing newborns is within the first 3 weeks. But it is more dependant on their birth weight than age Newborns are sleepier, more flexible, and easier to pose in those early days.

What do I need to bring to my session?

Nothing! I provide everything! ❤️ For maternity sessions, I provide gowns, fabrics, bodysuits, crowns, angel wings so you don’t need to bring anything specific just come comfortable.   For newborn sessions, I have a wide variety of props, outfits, wraps and headbands available If you have something sentimental you’d like included bring it along. You just need to walk with what you might need to a few hours out, I’ll provide the rest For cake smash sessions, bring a change of clothes for your little one (and possibly yourself). Everything else the cake, the set, the props is taken care of.

What should I wear?

For maternity sessions I provide a range of gowns, and fabrics you don’t need to bring anything. If you’d prefer to wear your own clothing, stick to solid colours and avoid busy patterns or logos.   For newborn and family sessions, co-ordinated tones work beautifully, think soft neutrals, creams, earthy tones, or muted pastels. Avoid logos or patterns Also, my client wardrobe is available for use during any session.

During your session

What if my newborn won’t stop crying?

This is a question I get asked often and I promise you, it’s not something to worry about. I’ve been photographing newborns for over 11 years and I have 6 kids of my own. I know every settling technique, every hold, every way to soothe a brand new baby.   Newborn sessions are 2-3 hours for exactly this reason, there is plenty of time for feeding breaks, cuddle breaks, and settling. We will not rush. We will get the shots. That is my job. You just need to relax

Can my partner and other children be included in the session?

Absolutely and I encourage it. Some of the most beautiful images come from the moments between a new baby and their siblings, or a partner cradling the bump. Let me know when you enquire who you’d like included and I’ll plan the session accordingly. For newborn sessions, I generally start with sibling and family photos and then someone can take the kids to a park or for a little outing so we can focus on baby for the rest of the session in a calm environment.

I’m nervous about a nude or semi-nude maternity shoot. What should I know?

Firstly, this is completely normal to feel and you don’t have to do a nude photoshoot if you are not comfortable, I also have lots of dresses Almost every mum I’ve done a nude session with has felt nervous beforehand and gorgeous by the end.   I guide every pose carefully and create a warm, private, unhurried environment. These sessions are artistic and tasteful

How long do sessions take?

Newborn sessions: Usually 2-3 hours. These are intentionally long and relaxed, your baby sets the pace. Maternity & family sessions: 1-1 1/2 hrs hours, including time to settle in, change looks if needed, and capture a variety of images. Cake smash sessions: Generally 1 hour, but paced around your baby’s mood on the day.

After your session

When will I receive my photos?

Your private online proofing gallery will be ready 2-3 weeks after your session. You’ll receive an email with a secure password to view your images. These will be low-resolution watermarked versions for selection purposes.   Once you’ve made your selections, your final edited high-resolution images will be delivered within 2-4 weeks

Do you offer albums or prints?

Yes absoutely! Photos are better on a wall than on your phone. You can view products at the studio
